You pay, of course, for your actual usage each month, plus any wasted water and the 4.0% state utilities tax on the total. In addition, there are many common practices which results in waste of water in the home. These practices naturally add unnecessarily to the cost of water bills. Among such practices are the following:
Make sure all water is off in the house and outside faucets
go to the meter and lift the lid
if the leak indicator is spinning, there is a customer side leak between the meter and the house
write down the reading as shown on the meter. Follow the instructions on how to read a meter and take the reading and subtract the present reading on your current bill to see the consumption to date.
TOILET FACILITIES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR 75% OF ALL LEAKS
